A fine example of a tip stool, with a balanced geometric design, a dark well used patina and the stems of brass tacks worn smooth with use. In the early days of brass tacks being available in Africa, the tacks were solid brass, later only the heads were brass, after that the tacks became brass plated and later still, they were a silver color. The brass stems indicate this is an early stool and was once ornamented with solid brass tacks.

These one legged stools are sometimes referred to as Kuba backrests or stools. Losses and repair.
