Evident from the softly worn patina, this ladder was originally used indoors to access grain storage. Carved from a naturally forked tree, indoor versions wear to a smooth glossy finish while outdoor versions develop a deeply weathered patina. The foot of the ladder that sat on the ground, has eroded away, adding to the visual height, drawing the eye up the length of the ladder.
