What makes this skirt unusual and especially charming is the house woven into a customary geometric pattern. Traditionally, among some Cameroonian groups, women wore modesty aprons. In 1961, the government passed regulations that required women to be fully clothed. Today the tradition continues for ceremonies, rituals, and rites of passage.
